Types of Consumer Behaviour
Types of Consumer Behaviour has been categorised into – Complex Buying, Dissonance-Reducing Buying, Habitual Buying, Variety-Seeking
#1. Complex Buying Behaviour
This refers to those unusual, expensive purchases that necessitate extensive research by the consumer, such as when purchasing a new automobile or home. Before reaching a final decision, they are heavily involved in the buying decision-making process.
#2. Dissonance-Reducing Buying Behaviour
When a consumer has trouble distinguishing between products despite extensive study. Then, even after they’ve made the purchase, they need to be assured that they’ve made the appropriate selection.
#3. Habitual Buying Behaviour
When a buyer, rather of purchasing a product based on brand loyalty, chooses a product based on their purchasing habits. For example, they’ve bought it previously, are happy with it, and prefer it to other brands because it eliminates the need to ponder throughout the purchasing process.
#4. Variety-Seeking Behaviour
Refers to a consumer’s desire to test different products and diversify their purchasing habits. For example, they might love tasting new tea tastes or a fresh scent of hand soap each time they make a purchase.
In the end, a consumer’s needs and wants, as well as their personality and the preferences, priorities, morals, and values that come with it, motivate them.

The following is an excellent example of how personality, including needs and wants, greatly influences a consumer’s behaviour
Let’s consider that Jane is a vegan who is committed to animal rights, environmental sustainability, and has a plant-based diet everyday. It not only reinforces her priorities, beliefs, and values, but she also believes it enhances her health. Jane doesn’t care how many advertising for a nice beef burger she sees. – She won’t buy one because it contradicts her desires, requirements, and personal tastes.
