Choosing the right colour or colours to convey your brand identity is a very important task than it may seem. Certain colours evoke certain emotions while expressing others. A colour’s value is a representation not only of how much light and dark there is to a particular hue. It is also about the amount of light that a colour emits. Saturation, on the other hand, is how much white, gray, or black is included in a colour, which in turn affects how neutral or how brilliant it is.

If you start with a few basics using the colour wheel, you will be able to better understand any colour and its relationships other colours, and the colour theory as a whole. Use this colour basics to decide which colours represent your brand ideally!

To everyone’s surprise, there are just three primary colours — red, yellow, and blue. These are the parents for all the other colours. Mix them to varying degrees and you get every other colour in the colour spectrum. Place them on a colour wheel and follow certain rules — colours next to each other are complementary, for example — and you better understand choosing the right colour in your branding and its marketing collateral / assets.
